VR Game Jam 2016

Rotterdam

On 13th and 14th of February, a VR Game Jam will be hosted in Rotterdam all weekend that will challenge participants with creating new content focused on a very dear, old subject of ours: Arcade and retro games.

Find Out More

Ever since the Oculus Rift Kickstarter, there’s been an explosion of new possibilities that Virtual Reality has to offer. With the introduction of HMDs(Head-mounted Displays) like the Cardboard, Durovis Dive, and Homido, the level of entry required to develop and design new experiences has never been lower.

And we’re gonna make use of that!

We are a bunch of VR enthusiast and we happen to love games. So we figured: Why keep it to ourselves, instead of sharing the energy, enthusiasm and platonic love around during a dedicated event where we can work on cool stuff together.

Everyone with interest in Virtual Reality technology is invited to participate.
No experience required!

F.A.Q.

What is a Game Jam?

We can go ahead and let Wikipedia do the talking for us, but basically: for two days, you(and a team) will be working on creating and finishing a project. The reasons for participating can be many: To work on that single idea you’ve had in the back of your mind, to showcase something awesome that you made, to participate with others on building something cool.

What's the theme?

Virtual Reality and Arcade gaming. How you want to interpret this theme is up to you.

What hardware/software can I use?

Bring Your Own. Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, GearVR, Unity, Unreal, WebGL... just go with what you're comfortable with.

Note that you will receive a complimentary Google Cardboard when joining the Game Jam. While we’re giving them away as a memento, it would be pretty wicked if you would use it to showcase your work.

What can I do to prepare for the event?

As little as possible, to be honest. Feel free to gain experience with the utilities that you are going to use, but we would want you to start any real work for your project on location.

How will we check for this? We won’t. Just keep it honest.
